You may be pondering what exactly an Insignis is. Basically, it is a mark that begins to form with each day you are in the pack. After a week or so, the mark is complete and you may begin your tests for a ranking.
An isignis must say something about who you are as a Maeror, and who you will always be.
Green or Blue markings represent purity or healing. Innocence, liveliness. Often young pups or herbalists receive this color of marking.
Red or Orange markings represent inner rage, the art of battle. Soldiers and those who love fighting and sparring often receive this color. Red can also mean a burning passion for something, or love.
White represents courage, fortitude, and can also mean solitude and aloneness, those who prefer to stand alone.
Royal blue markings represent great loyalty and reverence to the Amartalos Maeror. Those who plan to remain loyal and will risk their lives for others will get this color isignis.
Golden markings represent faith, hope, and strength. Any rank can receive this color.
Purple markings represent spirituality, those who feel a connection to the descendants or other passed. Those are very in touch with themselves and aware will receive this color.
Black or grey markings are the color of those who are damned... often the color of the imprisoned. Those with the black or grey isignis are never trusted.
Those who defy, deceive, or betray the Maeror are demarked... an extremely painful process that involves the traitor being pinned by four wolves, the two high ranks ripping at their area of their mark till the skin is clean off and the mark is gone.
Once your isignis is completely formed, you are ready for a ranking. Your isignis will also burn if you are in danger or about to experience pain.
The shape of the insignis is completely up to you. However, complex insignis could mean future hardships or a complex personality. The shape can also say something about them. For example, if its shaped like a swan, it could mean like the grace of a swan.
Often times those who are mated or related to each other receive a similar insignis design.
Nobody is entirely sure why an Insignis forms, but it shows who we are. It says something about one's personality and begins forming the second day one is in the pack. Only Maeror have such marks.
INSIGNIS RULES
Yes, this is required. You can design your isignis any way you want. You want it to be a green ice cream cone on your butt? Fine. Its completely up to you what the isignis looks like.
No, you cannot have multiple insignis.
Please, do not repeatedly change the design. Find something you like.
Please choose a color that represents your character! A big wolf who is angry and enjoys bloodspill will not have a blue or green marking. They would have a red or orange. An innocent herbalist wouldn't have the color of a soldier either.
Remember this isn't some painted on tattoo that washes off in the water. This is painfully engraved into your characters skin, and if your character defies or betrays Maeror, they will be demarked very painfully.
This shouldn't cover your entire body. It should be a very small marking on your characters hip, shoulder, legs, flank, back, chest, or cheek.
If you don't second the idea of having a mark, you can make it small and subtle.
The Insignis forms gradually on your character. Once completely formed, they're ready to be ranked. The Prelates will decide how you will be ranked.
If you're worried about having to constantly download presets, make a preset, etc, don't worry. Each person will be required to have a small description in their feralheart bio on what their insignis looks like and where it is on their body. You can do the same, or you can draw it and share it here on the forum. You can also request a preset from Salem or other preset makers in the group, or request Salem to draw your insignis to share here on the forum.
You must ask out of character before you say that your insignis is finished forming. You may not have it be completely formed your second day. The prelates must allow you to out of character be done first. We will allow you to have your isignis be complete when we tell you you're ready for your rank. Just be active and loyal, and it will only be around three days.
